Frank Pallotta Joins Republican Leaders in Praising President Trump’s Challenge to Governor Murphy’s “Immigrant Trust Directive”

MAHWAH – Frank Pallotta, Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District, joined with Sussex County Sheriff Mike Strada and Assemblyman Parker Space (R-24) in supporting the Trump Administration’s decision to challenge Governor Phil Murphy’s “Immigrant Trust Directive,” a set of radical guidelines that allow New Jersey to subvert the efforts of federal law enforcement officials.  Pallotta said:

“I applaud President Trump and the Department of Justice for taking a bold stance on this Murphy-backed disaster. How can our brave law enforcement officers fully perform their duties if they only selectively uphold the laws that Governor Murphy likes?” said Pallotta. He continued, “The Governor does not set immigration policy, and in attempting to limit what local law enforcement shares with ICE, he is hamstringing municipalities and counties for the sake of far-left activists who simply dislike the President. I hope that this rule is struck down quickly for the safety of our communities.”

Sheriff Strada added:

“I applaud U.S. Attorney General William Barr and Craig Carpenito, the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, for supporting local law enforcement with this action and challenging the unconstitutional sanctuary state policies of Governor Murphy and his state Attorney General. Their sanctuary polices endanger our communities and render local law enforcement unable to conduct their sworn duty to protect the citizens of New Jersey without fear of official retaliation under the Murphy administration’s politically motivated ‘Immigrant Trust Directive of 2018.’”

Assemblyman Space concluded:

“I’m thankful the United States Justice Department has decided to look into the Murphy administration’s illegal sanctuary directive.  On multiple occasions, we asked the Murphy administration to come to Sussex County to explain the reasoning behind their directive.  They ignored us. Now the feds have labeled it ‘unconstitutional’.  I guess now we know why Murphy didn’t show up.”
