Freeholder Director Arnone issues statement commending gyms and health clubs
FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone issued the following statement regarding the operation of gyms and health clubs:
“I recently visited The Atlantic Club in Manasquan and would like to applaud them, and all of the gyms and health clubs in Monmouth County, for the great job they have done to safely reopen their doors to members.
I have witnessed, firsthand, as temperature checks are performed upon entering facilities and gym employees frequently sanitizing equipment and commonly touched areas.
These fitness centers are strictly following CDC guidelines and implementing enhanced safety protocols in order for members to maintain social distance and reduce risk of any virus transmission while exercising. Many of these fitness centers are even offering outdoor or virtual classes to their members.
I am thrilled that Monmouth County health clubs continue to operate as the weather turns colder and the need for indoor physical activity increases. It is no secret that exercising has both physical and mental health benefits and that health care facilities are essential to their members’ wellbeing.
While I commend the gyms and health clubs for their efforts, I also urge their members—and all residents—to remember to do their part to protect their families, friends and communities by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, avoiding large gatherings, washing their hands and staying home when sick.”
