Freeholder Joel Torres Endorses The Education Matters Team
“The Education Matters Team is thrilled time pick up the support and endorsement of Hudson County Freeholder and former JCBOE President Joel Torres. Joel’s work and dedication to constituent services in his district speaks for itself. The fact that he served on the Board as President and helped guide the district through many difficult times as well as helping to achieve several positive milestones is what makes this particular endorsement what we are most proud of. Joel Torres helped bring about much positive change in this district and we are proud to continue much of that work on the Board today and hope to continue to do so moving forward.”, stated Mike Greco/Education Matters Campaign Manager
Freeholder Torres issued the following statement on his Social Media pages today:
“ I know the ballot looks packed and has many different options all around. However, I wanted to give you a tip to make sure you don’t miss an important election. When your done casting your vote for @joebiden for President and @kamalaharris for Vice President, don’t forget to go down to the lower right hand side of the ballot and cast your vote for the Jersey City Board of Education race!
This year, I’m supporting the @educationmattersjc team of Lorenzo Richardson (1I), Gina Verdibello (2I), and LeKendrick Shaw (3I). I worked closely with Lorenzo during my time on the school board and always found him to care deeply about the children and all school stakeholders. As its president, he’s brought civility and dignity back to the board and has helped the district navigate through the challenges of the current pandemic. While on the board, I also had the pleasure of working with Gina when she was a parent advocate fighting for the needs of school communities throughout the district. In my interactions with LeKendrick, I’ve found him to be a genuine individual who cares deeply about the community and our public schools.
Make sure to take care of your civic duty immediately by completing and sending back your vote-by-mail ballot as soon as you get it!”
