FREEHOLDER KERN CALLS FOR TRANSPARENT COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Belvidere, NJ — Warren County Freeholder James R. Kern III will ask that all meetings of task forces, committees and agencies be held no early than 5:30 pm for the next calendar year.

“We must make sure that Warren County residents have the opportunity to attend and participate in the various government agency meetings throughout the County. Many of our residents work full-time jobs and having meetings during the day restricts their access to not only a witness their government in action but also limits many of them from being able to serve.”

One of Kern’s campaign platforms was to increase government transparency. As mayor of Pohatcong Township, he oversaw the first online streams of township council meetings and overhauled the township website. He hopes to earn the support of his fellow Freeholders and to have this policy enacted by the start of 2020.

“Adjusting meeting times is a small, but sensible change which will have a large impact. The Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders are already great stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars, now our mission should be to make sure our residents are informed and engaged.” Kern said.

The Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders next meeting is Wednesday, May 22nd at 7:30 pm.
