Freiman Statement on Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D-Hunterdon/Mercer/Middlesex/Somerset) released the following statement regarding the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh Saturday morning:

“As a proud, observant, practicing member of the Jewish faith, I am hurt and I am angry. The senseless loss of life today at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh is heartbreaking and indescribably painful.

“I send my prayers and condolences to the families, friends and everyone in the Squirrel Hill community. To know that people who share my faith were killed, particularly during a time of worship, sickens me and I hope that the perpetrator responsible for cutting these lives short will be held fully accountable.

“The leadership of our country has been tone deaf to the recent growth of intolerance, violence, and hatred toward fellow Americans and immigrants alike.  Unfortunately, past failures to strongly condemn these actions only serve to embolden those who wish to commit acts of evil on others.

“We must come together, collectively, as a strong voice, because clearly all of our lives are at stake.”
