Fuel Merchants Association of NJ Applauds Bipartisan Legislation to Stop Murphy Electrification Mandate

Statement from Eric DeGesero, Executive Vice President, Fuel Merchants Association of New Jersey on the passage of S-4133 from Senate Community and Urban Affairs:

“While we support clean energy goals, Governor Murphy’s Energy Master Plan and his total electrification mandate comes at too great a cost for New Jersey families.  Our studies have shown the costs to be $20,000 (or more) for homeowners to convert their residences to electric heat, and the Murphy Administration has been unable to refute that or provide their own realistic cost estimates. To that end, S-4133 is a common sense solution that puts the brakes on this unaffordable and unrealistic mandate that would disproportionally impact those homeowners who can least afford it.  We applaud Senator Gopal and the sponsors of this bill, Democrats and Republicans, who listened to thousands of their constituents who asked them to stop Governor Murphy’s unaffordable and inefficient electric heat mandate.”
