FULOP CAMPAIGN RAISES FULL PRIMARY MATCH FOR 2025 GOVERNOR’S RACE
Democrat Builds on Historic Fundraising Success With Additional $800K Raised in Third Quarter, Completes Fundraising Effort for Primary Campaign Including Accounting for Anticipated Inflation Adjustment to Spending Cap
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — With the Primary election still over 19 months away, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop has already surpassed the current fundraising threshold for the state’s public matching funds program. Following a historic $2.2 million second quarter fundraising total after announcing his campaign, the Jersey City Mayor will post an additional $800,000 raised in the third quarter. The Fulop for Governor campaign has now raised enough to qualify for matching funds allowing it to easily reach the current expenditure limit of $7.3 million for the Primary, with additional funds already raised to account for the expectation that the Election Law Enforcement Commission will increase the spending cap for the 2025 election to adjust for inflation.
“In less than six months since we launched this campaign we have already achieved more than just about anyone thought was possible thanks to the incredible level of support we are receiving from elected officials, community leaders and residents throughout New Jersey,” said Mayor Fulop. “Now that we’ve completed our fundraising campaign for the Primary, we’ll be able to focus our time on organizing and continuing to build support in all 21 counties. I would like to thank each and every one of the more than 2,000 donors who made this possible because they believe in our vision for New Jersey’s future.”
The Fulop campaign received contributions from over 650 donors in the third quarter and over 2,000 individual donors since its launch, with amounts ranging from $50 to the current maximum allowable contribution of $4,900. The campaign is among the fastest ever to reach the full primary match among non-incumbents, showcasing its organizational strength and the breadth of its support.
Mayor Fulop has earned the support of Democratic County Chairs in Hudson and Warren counties as well as respected leaders like Co-Chair Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr., Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora, Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, Hillside Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, South Orange Mayor Sheena Collum, Clinton Mayor Janice Kovach, Burlington City Mayor Barry Conaway, Mount Holly Mayor Chris Banks, SMART-TD Local 60, the Amalgamated Transit Workers Union International and New Jersey Council, four Teamsters locals representing thousands of active and retired workers, healthcare workers union District 1199J.
