Garden State Equality Condemns Homophobic, Racist Violent Attack Against Empire’s Jussie Smollett in Chicago

ASBURY PARK, NJ – Garden State Equality (GSE)’s Executive Director Christian Fuscarino issued the following statement in response to news of a violent hate crime against Jussie Smollett last night in Chicago:

“We are horrified by the homophobic and racist violent hate crime against Jussie Smollett last night in Chicago. This hatred is unconscionable, and we must combat bigotry wherever it rears its head—whether that’s in our schools, over the dinner table, or from the White House. Every day evil goes unchallenged, those who wish to do harm to people of color or the LGBTQ community become emboldened—and we all become less safe.”
