GARDEN STATE EQUALITY SEEKS CLEAR STANCE FROM SENATE CANDIDATE BOB HUGIN ON POMPEO’S NOMINATION FOR U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE

“As the Trump administration attempts to add yet another harmful appointment to its cabinet, we need our United States Senate members to be clear whether they support or oppose openly anti-LGBT nominees, like Mike Pompeo. Unlike Senator Menendez and Senator Booker, Candidate for U.S. Senator of New Jersey, Bob Hugin, has remained silent regarding his stance on Pompeo’s nomination. With Pompeo’s track record of anti-LGBT positions including resistance of marriage equality to all fifty states and the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, it is not difficult to choose a stance on his nomination. However, Hugin’s apprehension to vocalize opposition can almost certainly be interpreted as support for this disastrous appointment.
