Garden State Equality Statement on Governor Murphy’s 2020 State of the State Address

For Immediate Release
January 14, 2020

Christian Fuscarino, Executive Director for Garden State Equality, released the following statement in response to Governor Murphy’s 2020 State of the State Address:

“While our rights are being undermined every day by the Trump-Pence administration, Governor Phil Murphy has ensured that New Jersey protects and uplifts everyone in the LGBTQ community. In two short years, we’ve made monumental strides as the second state in the nation to pass LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum and the first in the nation to have a statewide Transgender Equality Task Force. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Governor and his administration as we work to pass a bill of rights for LGBTQ seniors in long-term care, make HIV-prevention drugs such as PrEP/PEP available over-the-counter without a prescription, reform New Jersey’s archaic and out-dated HIV criminalization laws, mandate sexual orientation and gender identity data collection among state agencies, and more.”
