Gen Z will play a critical role in determining the results of New Jersey’s 2023 state and local, with youth-led organization Voters of Tomorrow New Jersey (VOTNJ) releasing a wave of endorsements for pro-democracy candidates in the primary election cycle. Today, VOT New Jersey’s Chief of Staff Sofia Bari released the following endorsement for Dan Benson running for Mercer County Executive:

“Young voters are engaged in local and state politics now more than ever. Gen Z voters in Mercer County have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of a transparent and responsive county government. From a confusing budget layout, to the county’s stagnant approach to the climate crisis, young residents have been craving a change of leadership in the capital county for years. Today, as an entirely Gen Z led organization, we’re proud to announce our endorsement of Dan Benson for Mercer County Executive!

As the next generation of leaders, Gen Z recognizes the importance of a transparent, responsive and a service based county government. Dan’s thorough record of responsive constituent services, collaborative community input and his proven track record of public service as Assemblyman for New Jerseys 14th Legislative District makes for an abundantly qualified candidate. During his time in office, he has fought tirelessly for working families and young New Jerseyans by advocating for policies that promote economic opportunity, education, and environmental sustainability.
