Gen Z Organization Frustrated with “Wait Your Turn” Politics, Endorses Adrian Ghainda

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY – Voters of Tomorrow New Jersey is proud to issue our endorsement to one of Hudson County’s first Gen Z candidates for County Commissioner in District 2, Adrian Ghainda. Born and raised in Jersey City, and with years of community organizing under his belt – Adrian is the candidate young voters need to deliver robust institutional reform.

From reviving government transparency, to establishing a county level youth advisory board to the Hudson County Commissioners, Adrian is fighting to make Jersey City, and all of Hudson County, a place where all residents have a seat at the table. “Candidates often overlook the importance of affordability, especially as it relates to young voters” says Civic Engagement Director at VOT New Jersey, Roshni Aneja, “Not Adrian, a champion for the ‘Right to Counsel JC’ campaign, he is fighting to ensure access to legal counsel for the renters of Jersey City, and that’s a big deal. Because the rent is too damn high.” As County Commissioner, Adrian would move to enact a county wide Right to Counsel ordinance, guaranteeing a tenants rights to equal protection under the law.

With a resounding $600,000,000 County budget, some would argue Hudson County’s gradual approach to addressing the existential threat of the climate crisis is a matter of priorities, rather than political courage or financial means. As young voters, our generation knows all too well the urgency in addressing the climate crisis, and as a young hopeful county commissioner, Adrian will prioritize investments in green space development, renewable energy and energy efficiency. In addition, Adrian’s proposed to fund a new Planned Parenthood Crisis Pregnancy Center, providing free pregnancy tests and counseling for the residents of Hudson County.

Voters of Tomorrow New Jersey is proud to endorse a fellow Gen Z organizer and a champion for hardworking Hudson County residents. On accepting the endorsement, Adrian said, “I am proud to be endorsed by an organization that continues to prove why we need to amplify youth voices in local politics. Whether it’s finding ways to make Hudson County affordable for everyone, funding reproductive rights, or creating a Youth Advisory Council for the Board of Commissioners, I want to create a seat at the table for everyone in District 2.” We couldn’t agree more, Adrian! Gen Z looks forward to expressing our frustrations at the ballot box this June.
