Gilman, Parlamas and Clayton: We Must Invest in The Futures of All Our Students

Ocean Township, Monmouth County- We have all been there; we buy the latest technology only to find out in a very short time that it is replaced by even newer technology. The workplace and our society as a whole are more interconnected and demanding than before. What was taught in the past isn’t always applicable in today’s environment. The Experience Matters team of Irene Gilman, Denise Parlamas, and Steve Clayton recognize this and will continue to evaluate programs to determine whether they are still as relevant as they are intended to be. They have the institutional knowledge and experience that will allow them to know how programs have worked in the past and how they can be modified in the future for the better. We must never be satisfied as good can always be great, and great can always be excellent.

The Ocean Schools have been at the forefront of leading the way in providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education to its students. Whether it be the career academies offered at the high school or the foreign language classes offered throughout our schools, Ocean pushes its students to take risks and learn things outside their comfort zone. That will prepare them well for their further studies and their future careers.

The legendary basketball coach John Wooden once said, “If we fail to adapt, we fail to move forward.” The Experience Matters ticket will always have an open mind to change and innovation as we find the most optimal ways to prepare our students for whatever tomorrow brings for them. We were all given a chance to succeed in school, and we to ensure the same for all of today’s Spartans.
