Glen Rock Democrats: Mary Barchetto is Elected Glen Rock Borough Council President

The Glen Rock Borough Council has selected Mary Barchetto to serve as council president for 2021. She sees this as an opportunity to focus on balancing fiscal and pandemic-related responsibility without losing sight of the council’s duty to support the town’s mental and emotional well-being.

“I am so honored to have been elected by my fellow Councilmembers.  I do not take lightly their faith in me to lead through what will hopefully be a year of transition.” Barchetto said, after being chosen to helm the town council.

Barchetto began serving on the council after being elected in 2018 and in addition to being a voice for the community as a whole, has spearheaded a number of initiatives to improve services and outreach for Glen Rock’s senior community. She plans to ensure that Glen Rock continues to expand offerings for seniors – especially in light of their heightened vulnerability to COVID-19 – and is pursuing grants to support these initiatives.

Barchetto is  hopeful that 2021 will allow for a safe return to a variety of pre-pandemic activities around the borough, including town-wide events that enhance Glen Rock’s sense of community. She will be seeking ways to safely bring Glen Rockers together throughout the year to celebrate the town and its residents.

“2020 was a challenging year for our community,” says Barchetto. “I look forward to helping Glen Rock move forward into a better 2021 with our community’s safety and general well-being in mind.”
