GLOUCESTER COUNTY DEMOCRATS OVERWHELMINGLY VOTE TO ENDORSE STEVE SWEENEY FOR GOVERNOR
Woodbury, NJ – Today, the Gloucester County Democratic Committee voted to officially endorse Steve Sweeney to be New Jersey’s next Governor, securing another big win in his path to serve as the state’s executive officer. Democrats of Gloucester County endorsed Steve in recognition of his career of delivering results and advocacy for the county and his vision to make New Jersey more affordable, safer, and more prosperous.
Steve has a long history of service to Gloucester County – first as a County Commissioner, and then as a State Senator. This latest endorsement marks Steve’s fourth county endorsement of the Democratic primary season, following endorsements from Atlantic, Burlington, and Cumberland counties. Steve Sweeney remains one of only two candidates to earn the endorsement of multiple county committees.
Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:
“I am proud to have the backing of my home, Gloucester County, where I raised my children. It’s also where I served; where I expanded special needs services, built the DREAM Park, saw the expansion of Rowan University, and oversaw the creation of Paulsboro Port. We created an office of Veterans Affairs, opened a VA clinic, and built a veterans cemetery for those who served and their families. We accomplished a lot together, but I know we can still do more.
We got a lot done together, and when I’m Governor, I’ll always make sure South Jersey has a seat at the table in Trenton. Together, we can get our state’s skyrocketing costs under control, make our communities safer, and build a New Jersey that puts workers, seniors, and families first. There’s still a long road ahead, but with Gloucester’s support, I know we can get there.”
