GLOUCESTER COUNTY REPUBLICANS OFFICIALLY ENDORSE KIM GUADAGNO FOR GOVERNOR
Under the leadership of the newly elected Chair of the Gloucester County Republican Executive Board, Jim Philbin, Gloucester County implemented a new process for screening and endorsing candidates at all levels of government. A Committee was formed to research and interview the candidates for Governor in 2018. The process was open to any individuals who choose to participate. Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno and Somerset Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli separately interviewed with the Committee, each expressing a strong desire to represent the Republican Party in the upcoming election and each expressing high levels of optimism for success in the General.
While the Committee found that both candidates would make worthy adversaries to any candidate coming out of the Democrat Primary, the Gloucester County Republican Executive Board, by and through its screening Committee, is proud to endorse Kim Guadagno in the upcoming Primary. The Committee found that she has an infectious zeal for public service and is the candidate most likely to keep the Governor’s Office under Republican control. Her background prior to public service, particularly as a prosecuting attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office as well as the Attorney General’s Office for the State of New Jersey showed a toughness of character, a keen eye for detail, and an appreciation of the rewards of hard work. She began her public service as an elected Commissioner in her hometown of Monmouth Beach and moved on to be the first woman elected Sheriff in Monmouth County. Showing determination, fearlessness and drive, she made history when she became the State’s first Lieutenant Governor when sworn-in in 2010.
During the interviewing process, it became clear to the Committee and the Executive Board that Kim Guadagno is an independent thinker and will not be bound by the Administration’s past policies. Simply stated, her plans for a leaner government with an emphasis on fair-funding of education and job creation, is an ideal mix for the Republican Party’s next candidate for Governor. |
