GONZALEZ AND HUDSON GOP SMELL A PROBLEM: CLOSE THE LANDFILL!
Kearny-Responding to protests by Kearny residents about the hazardous and disgustingly scented Keegan landfill, today the Hudson County Republican Party and County Executive candidate Kennith Gonzalez called for closure of the facility on Bergen Ave which is near homes and athletic fields. With levels of hydrogen sulfide exceeding the legal amount, the time to end this nightmare in West Hudson has come.
“It is time for a new generation of leadership to address this environmental crisis. In Hudson County, Republicans care deeply about the environment and our communities. Having a hazardous landfill right next to Harvey Field, where the youth in Kearny spend their days after school is unreasonable and abusive. We must protect our children from these dangerous levels of hydrogen sulfide being spewed from the landfill that are proven to be extremely detrimental to our health. I commend Mayor Santos on standing up for his town, and I join him in calling for the closure of the Keegan Landfill,” Gonzalez said. Gonzalez also would like to meet with Mayor Santos and constituents affected by the landfill to help further the case for closing Keegan.
“I believe we can work together towards a solution that eliminate this mound of garbage and restore the environment in this neighborhood,” Gonzalez concluded.
