Gottheimer Applauds Safety-Net North Jersey Hospital Receiving Millions in Federal Investment to Combat COVID-19

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Receives Bipartisan CARES Act Investment

PARAMUS, NJ – On July 17, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) applauded Bergen New Bridge Medical Center receiving millions in bipartisan CARES Act investment to combat the coronavirus pandemic. This tranche of investment specifically benefits safety net hospitals, which serve a disproportionate number of Medicaid patients or provide large amounts of uncompensated care. It was appropriated by Congress and disbursed through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“One of my top priorities throughout this crisis has been working to ensure our frontline medical workers, hospitals, health care centers, and first responders in each county in the Fifth District have the resources and full support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. This federal investment going to New Bridge will help them continue to fight this pandemic, care for patients, and get health care workers the support they need as we battle this crisis,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) “I want to thank all our frontline health care workers for the incredible work they’ve been doing over the past several months. We would not be able to get through this crisis without them.”

We are grateful for the much needed federal funding and the continued support and advocacy of Congressman Gottheimer and Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco. These funds will allow us to continue our mission to provide access to care to those who need us the most.”

Separately, Gottheimer recently announced that $243 million in CARES Act investment from the bipartisan bill’s Provider Relief Fund is going to Fifth District hospital facilities operated by Hackensack University Medical Center, Atlantic Health Medical Center, Valley Health System, New Bridge Medical Center, and Holy Name Medical Center — to serve patients residing in Warren, Sussex, Passaic, and Bergen Counties.
