New House Task Force to Assess Innovative Financial Technologies

WASHINGTON – Today, Thursday, May 9, 2019, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) was appointed to the new Task Force on Financial Technology, also known as the FinTech Task Force, formally established today by the House Committee on Financial Services.

“As blockchain, new lending options, and other financial technologies continue to emerge, it is clear that there must be a framework in place that not only provides a much clearer path forward for innovation, but also establishes the United States as a leading force in this space,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “That’s why I’m looking forward to working with my Financial Services Committee colleagues on the new FinTech Task Force.”

The Task Force on Financial Technology is charged with conducting hearings and investigations relating to financial technology and may issue reports to the Financial Services Committee detailing findings and recommendations. The Task Force was created today by a resolution passed by voice vote.
