GOTTHEIMER: BERGEN COUNTY GOP PICK — “MAGA MARY” — IS YET ANOTHER FAR-RIGHT EXTREMIST

MAGA MARY OPENLY ANTI-CHOICE

WYCKOFF, NJ — At last night’s convention, the Bergen County Republican Organization endorsed ultra-right extremist “MAGA Mary” Guinchard, as their party’s candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District.

A New Yorker, “MAGA Mary” is a vocal right-wing extremist who associates with anti-government extremist groups and January 6th sympathizers. “MAGA Mary” opposes a woman’s right to choose and to make her own personal medical decisions. Ironically, Guinchard, who attends “pro-life” anti-choice rallies, opposes commonsense gun safety laws that would actually save lives, stating that bipartisan “red flag” gun safety laws go too far in their efforts to reduce domestic violence. These laws prevent individuals who exhibit behaviors that deem them a credible threat to others from purchasing or possessing firearms.

The contrast between MAGA Mary and Congressman Gottheimer could not be starker. While Congressman Gottheimer is known for commonsense solutions and working across the aisle to get things done for Jersey, “MAGA Mary” represents the extreme, ultra-right wing of the GOP. She will fight for a national extremist agenda, not for the families of the Fifth Congressional District.

“Since coming to Congress, I have fought every day for Jersey families to make life more affordable and protect our Jersey Values – including fighting to lower taxes and child care costs for Jersey families, protect our environment and a woman’s right to choose, support our veterans and law enforcement, and pass commonsense gun safety laws. I’ve always put commonsense, bipartisan problem solving over partisan extremism. With so much divisiveness in our country, we can’t afford to send someone to Congress who does not represent our Jersey Values and seeks only to further divide us.”
