Gottheimer Celebrates Fifth District First Responders at Fair Lawn National Night Out

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) joined Fifth District families, neighbors, kids, and first responders at this year’s National Night Out celebration in Fair Lawn. The annual, nation-wide event gives law enforcement, families, and business leaders a chance to get to know each other better and learn more about the work first responders do each day.

Members of Gottheimer’s team also attended National Night Out celebrations in Washington Township, Lodi, Hackensack, Harrington Park, New Milford, Paramus, and Teaneck.

“National Night Out is one of my all-time favorite community events, and I was proud to join neighbors, kids, families, seniors, and first responders at this year’s National Night Out celebration in Fair Lawn. The event is a great opportunity for us to better get to know and say thank you to the officers who put their lives on the line to protect our community each and every day,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “In Congress, I’m committed to having the backs of all of New Jersey’s first responders by clawing back federal dollars to put cops on the street, making sure our police departments get the resources they need, and helping keep our families and businesses safe. To all the first responders in the Fifth District and across our country—thank you.”

In Congress, Gottheimer is a member of the bipartisan Firefighters Caucus and the bipartisan Law Enforcement Caucus. Gottheimer also received a perfect 100% on the  National Association of Police Organizations’ (NAPO) 2017 Legislative Scorecard for his support of law enforcements’ legislative priorities during the first session of the 115th Congress. NAPO represents more than 1,000 police units, including the New Jersey State PBA, and more than 241,000 sworn law enforcement officers across the country.
