GLEN ROCK, NJ – Saturday, December 22, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) met with a Bergen County family that he helped fight bureaucratic roadblocks after adopting a baby boy. Earlier this year, Karen, Keith, and their son, Will, welcomed Ben into their family. In the summer, the family still had not received Ben’s birth certificate and needed that to obtain Ben’s U.S. Passport. After the family contacted Gottheimer’s office, they received Ben’s birth certificate and an expedited passport just two weeks later.
“I was lucky to spend time with Karen, Keith, Will, and Ben and see first-hand how adoption brings families together. The last thing Karen and Keith needed was red tape for their first family trip. I’m happy that we were able to help and that I could spend some time with this wonderful family last week,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I want anyone in the Fifth District who is experiencing trouble with a federal agency — whether it be adoption, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the VA, anything — to contact me and my team.”
Since taking office, Congressman Gottheimer has worked extensively to cut red tape for families and businesses in the Fifth District. If anyone in the Fifth District is in need of help with a federal agency, they are encouraged to contact Josh in his Glen Rock office at 201-389-1100 or in Newton at (973) 940-1117.
