Gottheimer Holds Discussion on Voting Rights

HACKENSACK, NJ – On Saturday, February 23, 2019, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) brought together community leaders from North Jersey to talk about H.R. 1, the House bill that would increase voting access and strengthen our democratic processes. Bergen County NAACP President Jeff Carter, Reverend Gregory Jackson of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and others assembled at Mount Olive Baptist Church for the start of a series of community conversations on protecting access to the ballot box.

“Voting is at the very bedrock of our democracy and we need to be increasing access to the ballot, not restricting it,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I appreciate the community groups and leaders who came out today to share their ideas on how to increase voter engagement, especially with young people, in our communities. I look forward to continuing this conversation and fighting for voting right here in New Jersey and across the country.”
