Congressman Awarded Distinction for Advocacy to Prevent Gun Violence

WYCKOFF, NJ – Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced today that his campaign has been awarded the 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction for his advocacy for gun violence prevention and commitment to common sense gun safety legislation.

“I am proud to be fighting alongside Moms Demand Action and the millions of Americans who have said enough is enough — the time to stop our nation’s crisis of senseless and preventable gun violence is now,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Common sense gun safety shouldn’t be a partisan issue. I was proud last Congress to help pass the first meaningful gun safety legislation in thirty years, a bipartisan effort to enforce red flag laws, close the boyfriend loophole, and invest in mental health services. But we must do even more, including strengthening background checks. It is urgent that we take action to solve this crisis to keep our families safe and protect our children’s future.”

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. Moms Demand Action is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the United States, with nearly 10 million supporters and volunteer chapters in all 50 states.
