Gottheimer Promises Renewed Fight Against New York’s Crushing Congestion Tax Continues Fight for Affordability, Clean Air, and Lower Taxes

Today, November 14, 2024, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) held a press call to discuss the return of New York’s commuter-crushing Congestion Tax and renewed the fight to make life more affordable for hardworking Jersey residents.

The $9/day Congestion Tax would whack New Jersey and New York commuters with a $2,300+ annual bill just to travel south of 60th Street in Manhattan.

Video of the conference can be found here.

“In a time of inflation, we won’t stand by as New York attempts to once again whack Jersey families with a $9 new tax. It will cost hardworking commuters thousands of dollars and is utterly absurd,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Before looking at the pockets of our families, the MTA should balance their mismanaged, out-of-control budget. With countless Jersey and New York residents behind me, I’m ready to fight the Congestion Tax again to protect families from more taxes and more pollution. We stopped the Congestion Tax once and we’ll stop it again. Game on.”
