Gottheimer Supports Law Enforcement and Community Leaders at Opioid Epidemic and Securing our Schools in Suburbia Conference

PARAMUS, N.J. — Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer spoke at the Opioid Epidemic and Securing our Schools in Suburbia Conference at Bergen Community College. The audience and panelists included law enforcement officials, educators, mental health professionals and addiction recovery professionals.

“No community is immune to the opioid crisis ravaging America’s communities and threatening American families. No family should feel alone in this fight. Between 2004 and 2015, New Jersey experienced a 214% spike in heroin-related deaths. That’s why in the last month, I helped pass a slew of bills that give law enforcement the tools necessary to crack down on the opioid epidemic and the spread of fentanyl. Particularly, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus came together to support the SITSA Act to fight back against fentatnyl,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).
