Executive Order No. 241 − Ordering all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Friday, January 12, 2018 in recognition and mourning of a courageous and loyal American soldier, United States Army Sergeant First Class Mihail Golin, who tragically lost his life in combat on January 1, 2018 while deployed in Afghanistan. Golin served honorably as a Special Forces weapons sergeant for the Green Berets in B Company, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, based in Fort Carson, Colorado. Sgt. Golin was deployed by the United States Army four times, once to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and three times to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“Sgt. Golin was a loving son and father who will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fellow soldiers,” said Governor Christie. “Sgt. Golin was a brave, dedicated, and decorated soldier. He will always be remembered for his heroism and commitment to service and country.”
