Governor Murphy Designates April as Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month

Trenton- Governor Phil Murphy today announced that he has signed the following resolution:

AJR-93/SJR-218(Greenwald, Mukherji, Murphy, Coughlin/Sweeney, Diegnan, Kean) – Designates April of each year as “Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month.”

“I am honored to sign this resolution into law today. The Sikh community has played a pivotal role in contributing to the vibrancy of this state and country,” said Governor Murphy. “On April 14th, members of the Sikh community will celebrate Vaisakhi Day, honoring core values of sacrifice and courage through acts of service. As part of their faith, our brothers and sisters in the Sikh community emphasize love and tolerance, ideas that we can all support regardless of race, religion, or creed.”
