Governor Murphy Directs U.S. and New Jersey Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Former First Lady Debby Kean

Governor Phil Murphy today ordered that the U.S. and New Jersey flags be flown at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on Friday, May 1st, in recognition of the passing of former First Lady of New Jersey Debby Kean. The flags will also fly at half-staff to honor the victims of COVID-19, pursuant to Executive Order No. 114, which remains in effect indefinitely.

“Debby Kean used her time as First Lady to advocate for child care for state employees, supported research on developmental disabilities, and led an extensive renovation of Drumthwacket,” said Governor Murphy. “In addition to her great achievements during Governor Kean’s time in office, she was dedicated to her family, including her son, Senator Tom Kean, Jr.. Governor Kean, Tom Jr., Alexandra, and Reed are in my and Tammy’s thoughts and prayers.”
