Governor Murphy Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary

09/8/2023
TRENTON – Today, Governor Phil Murphy ordered that U.S. and New Jersey flags be flown at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on Monday, September 11, 2023, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 innocent people that were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks, of whom almost 700 were New Jersey residents.

“Twenty-two years later, September 11, 2001, continues to be remembered and mourned across our nation as we reflect on this anniversary with the patriotism and compassion that define us as Americans,” said Governor Murphy. “We will never forget the lives that were taken from us and we will continue to honor their memory by defending the democracy that our enemies sought to destroy on that tragic day. We remain grateful to our first responders, law enforcement officers, armed forces, and intelligence officers for their extraordinary sacrifices protecting our country as we observe 9/11 with full solemnity, in honor of the victims of the attacks and their loved ones.”
