Great Success: Hoboken Non-Incumbent Candidate Meet and Greet
Hoboken – The October 6th Meet and Greet for Non-Incumbent Hoboken City Council Candidates (viewable here), hosted by Rose Marie Markle and Joshua Sotomayor Einstein, at Willie McBride’s was a great success. The event featured the candidates, each speaking for 3 minutes from the stage, giving their reasons for running in front of a live community audience with which they then mingled and informally fielded questions from.
The audience was composed of people from across the community, political spectrum, and every Hoboken political camp. Hoboken City Council candidates Manuel Rivera, Cindy Wiegand, Ian Rintel, Cheryl Fallick, Paul Presinzano, Sheila Brennan, and Patricia Waiters attended. Prior to the candidates speaking the hosts turned over the microphone to Brendan Probst and Samuel Schmitt, co-founders of Quaea, a revolutionary app currently in the incubator at Stevens Institute focused on making politics accessible for everyone.
“I give a lot of credit to those who participated because many times candidates only focus on getting out the vote of their supporters. The meet and greet was of and for Hoboken residents of all different types listening to, and being listened to by, the candidates,” stated Rose Marie Markle. She continued, “all the non-incumbent Hoboken City Council candidates (all of whom were invited) who attended, gave speeches and then took part in a free and open exchange of ideas with the people – something all of those running for every office should participate in more often.”
