Greenwald after Questioning acting Education Commissioner: I Welcome his Support for Fixing School Funding

‘I look forward to working with the acting commissioner to turn today’s discussion into reality’

(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Camden/Burlington) released the following after questioning acting Education Commissioner Repollet about school funding during Monday’s Assembly Budget Committee hearing:

“I thank acting Commission Repollet for taking my questions at today’s education budget hearing, and I especially welcome his support for modernizing the school funding formula by June 30 and eliminating enrollment caps and phasing-out transitional aid.

“After 8 years of not funding the school funding formula by the previous administration, the funding formula is essentially broken.

“The acting commissioner’s promise to work with the Legislature to fix and modernize school funding by the time we adopt the next state budget is a hopeful sign that we’re about to finally see real progress.

“I look forward to working with the acting commissioner to turn today’s discussion into reality. The taxpayers and our children deserve no less.”
