GROSSMAN: VAN DREW SHOWS TRUE COLORS OPPOSING CONFIRMING KAVANAUGH TO SUPREME COURT

Somers Point, NJ, October 5, 2018 – In a story in the New Jersey Globe Tuesday, State Sen. Jeff Van Drew stated that if he were a member of the U.S. Senate he would not vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, citing the nominee’s behavior and temperament while defending himself against unsubstantiated sexual assault allegations during last Thursday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.

Van Drew, the Democrat candidate for congress in NJ’s 2nd District, seems to ignore the fact that the judge had been the victim of a nonstop vicious onslaught of smears and character assassination by Democrats since the confirmation process began, including personal attacks on his family and that there was zero evidence or corroboration of any of the allegations made against him, so expressing his emotions would be natural in such circumstances.

“Some of the partisanship that came out – and it was on both sides, but he’s the one trying to be Supreme Court judge – concerned me greatly,” Van Drew said. “If I was there I don’t believe I would be voting for him, but everybody has to speak for themselves.”

While Van Drew stated that he would not vote for Judge Kavanaugh on grounds of “partisanship,” it would appear that the partisanship is Van Drew’s, not Kavanaugh’s, and that he is following the Democrat’s staunch party line opposition which has been blindly determined to stop the judge’s nomination at all costs, and turned much of the confirmation hearing into a disruptive circus of orchestrated outbursts by the Democrat committee members and paid protesters.

“The “new Jeff Van Drew” is now coming out.  He has given the false impression that he is a reasonable, reach-across-the-aisle legislator in the state senate for the last 16 years, but he really has been nothing but an obedient tow-the-party-line Democrat destroying the state’s economy.  His opposition to Judge Kavanaugh is just more concrete evidence proving that he is 100% for the radical left agenda of obstructing President Trump and resisting and disrupting and attacking in every way,” said Seth Grossman, the Republican congressional candidate for NJ’s 2nd District.  “I guarantee you, whoever president Trump proposed for any Supreme Court position, Jeff Van Drew would find some reason to oppose, and I guarantee that he would be putty in the hands of people like Pelosi and Schumer if he ends up in Washington.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings were followed by a week-long FBI investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh which fully exonerated him in a report released Thursday, citing that there was absolutely no evidence and that witnesses named by the accusers all refuted or could not corroborate the accusations.  It was the seventh time that Judge Kavanaugh had been investigated by the FBI in preparation for his nomination to the federal bench, with all investigations affirming the judge’s exemplary career and character.

The full Senate vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination is now scheduled for Saturday.

“The American people, no matter what their party affiliation, are totally disgusted with the Democrat’s search and destroy mission to defeat Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination in attempt to delay it until after the midterm elections in hope that they will regain control of Congress and then nominate their own uber-leftist-ideologue judge to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court,” Grossman said.  “The problem is that their attack isn’t just about Kavanaugh, it is an assault on our American system of justice and our basic Constitutional rights.  They don’t want to just stop Kavanaugh, they want to stop President Trump and all the progress he is making for our nation.  The ‘new Van Drew’ adheres to that radical left.”

Seth Grossman and Jeff Van Drew are facing off in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District.  The seat, which has been represented by retiring U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo for 24 years, includes the counties of Cape May, Atlantic, Cumberland and Salem and parts of Camden, Gloucester, Burlington and Ocean counties.  Donald Trump won the district by five points in the 2016 election.
