Habitat Builds Hope for Veteran Families, Honors Vets at Annual Event

Burlington, NJ (11/16/2019) – Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County and Greater Trenton-Princeton partners with Burlington Free and Accepted Masons for their 5th Annual Take a Veteran to Lunch event Saturday, November 16th, from 11:30am to 2:00pm.  The event honors local veterans and raises funds for Habitat’s Veteran Build Initiatives.

Take a Veteran to Lunch, held at F&AM Lodge #32 in Burlington, is a sit-down lunch with a short program in honor of Veterans Day and takes time to thank the men and women who selflessly serve our country.  All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build initiative, which provides homeownership opportunities and home repairs for military families.  New Jersey residents pay the 6th most for housing in the country, and 24.4% of NJ veterans face inadequate housing as well as steep housing costs. Habitat BCGTP is hard at work making sure veteran families do not have to struggle to make ends meet after sacrificing so much for our freedom.  Currently, Habitat volunteers are constructing a new veteran home in Palmyra, as well as numerous exterior home repair projects throughout the Burlington and Mercer areas.

Keynote speaker for Take a Veteran to Lunch will be Chief Master Sergeant Dana L. Capaldi.  CMSgt Capaldi is assigned to the the 514th Air Mobility Wing at the Joint Base MDL.  There, she serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for approximately 2,000 enlisted personnel who she advises on matters of health, welfare, and morale.

Support of Take a Veteran to Lunch comes from the Wawa Foundation, Baratz & Associates, P.A., Primepoint Payroll, Vanguard Building Solutions, Impact Human Capital, and Acura.
