HACKENSACK UNITES FILES OVER 400 PETITIONS COLLECTED THROUGH GRASSROOTS, VOLUNTEER EFFORT
HACKENSACK, N.J. – For the past three weeks, neighbors have been helping the Hackensack Unites Team collect signatures to qualify for the nonpartisan City Council Election on May 13. Today, the group delivered 431 petitions to the City Clerk, earning Caseen Gaines, Agatha Toomey, Roberto Diaz, Philip Carroll, and Sonya Clark-Collins a spot on the ballot.
The other slate expected to file has been using paid canvassers to collect signatures at Aldi, ShopRite, and Target in Hackensack. The lack of interaction directly with voters is illustrative of their lack of interest in hearing directly from Hackensack residents.
“The Labrosse Team won’t take the time to meet their constituents, but the Hackensack Unites Team is not taking any vote for granted. They’re already working to secure support across the City,” explained Campaign Manager Jason DeAlessi. “They’ve started knocking on doors and having positive conversations with people who are frustrated that taxes have skyrocketed due to the Labrosse Team’s handouts to developers. There are a lot of neighbors to speak to, and the Hackensack Unites team is committed to reaching everyone.”
