Hamilton’s Annual Italian Flag Raising Ceremony

to Take Place on Tuesday, October 2nd

Mayor Kelly Yaede is inviting residents to join her and members of the Mercer County Italian American community as they celebrate Italian-American culture with Hamilton’s annual Italian Flag Raising Ceremony.

Hamilton’s Italian Flag Raising Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd beginning with a ceremony at 12 p.m. Noon outside of the Hamilton Township Municipal Building (located at 2090 Greenwood Avenue).

Dignitaries and special guests participating in the ceremony will include Mayor Kelly Yaede, Mercer County Italian American Festival Association President – John Scarpati, 2018 Columbus Day Gala Honoree/Former President of the Italian American Sportsman Club – Bartholomew “Bart” DiNola, Deacon Jeffery Pierfy of Our Lady of Sorrows – Saint Anthony Parish, the Marine Corps League – Trenton Detachment #207, and members of the Steinert High School Choir under the direction of Mr. Richard Schneider.  In attendance will be Steinert High School Italian Class Students and Italian Teacher/Club Moderator Joanne Ryan, Nottingham High School Italian Club Students and Italian Department Chair Professor Frank A. Campione, along with other members of the community. A special surprise presentation will also take place during the ceremony.

Throughout the year, the Township displays the flags of several nations at the request of local ethnic organizations to honor our many ethnic groups that make up Hamilton Township and have so greatly contributed to our community.  The Italian flag raising ceremony, at the request of the Mercer County Italian American Festival Association, continues this longstanding tradition.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will still be held inside the Hamilton Township Council Chambers, while the Italian Flag will subsequently be raised outside once the inclement weather subsides.
