Hispanic College Students Graduate from Renowned State Fellowship Ready to Become New Jersey’s Transformational Leaders

The Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Program is a rigorous internship program for New Jersey, Hispanic college students which the New Jersey Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development (CHPRD) has funded and managed for 33 years. After eight weeks of professional and personal development training, 22 interns will graduate and receive a completion certificate from CHPRD and its partner agency, HISPA. CHPRD is a state agency, under the supervision of Secretary of State Tahesha Way, aimed at enhancing the quality of life of the Hispanic community and empowering them. Since 1988, the Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Program has served as the pipeline for the next generation of transformational leaders in New Jersey.  

Who: Sara Pena, Director of CHPRD; M. Teresa Ruiz, New Jersey Senator of District 29 & Senate President Pro Tempore; Ivonne Diaz-Claisse, CEO of HISPA; graduating interns; and other invited guests.

What: The Governor’s Hispanic Fellow 2021 Graduation Ceremony

When: August 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where: 1 Normal Ave, Montclair, NJ. University Hall Building – Conference Center (7th floor).

Why: CHPRD will commemorate the graduation of 24 Governor’s Hispanic fellows as well as recognize the partners and contributors that made the Program possible. The ceremony will host special guest speakers and grant special awards. The Governor’s Hispanic Program offered career development training, coaching sessions, and networking opportunities with professionals in different fields with the goal to empower and set Hispanic college students for success.
