Horizon, Prime Therapeutics Improve Pharmacy Convenience and Ease with PillPack

(Newark, NJ, August 3, 2020) – For members whose daily regimen includes managing multiple medications, keeping track of what to take, and when, is critical to effective treatment. It can also be a source of stress for members already facing significant health challenges. To help members improve adherence by simplifying and bringing greater out-of-pocket cost transparency to their pharmacy purchasing experience, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) worked with Prime Therapeutics – Horizon BCBSNJ’s pharmacy benefits manager – and PillPack by Amazon Pharmacy to make it easier for members to choose PillPack for their pharmacy home delivery needs.

All members with Horizon BCBSNJ pharmacy benefits can now choose PillPack as their pharmacy for home delivery of their medications. They can simply go to their secure member web portal on HorizonBlue.com and click on Prescriptions under Doctors & Care to complete their registration. Members can also visit PillPack.com/HorizonBlue and follow the on-screen instructions. If members choose to use PillPack they can take advantage of the user-friendly daily dosing packs, and they can save time and effort because their insurance details, demographic information, and medicine lists are automatically imported. Members can also view an estimate of their out of pocket costs up front, before selecting a fill option and choosing the home delivery option that works best for their needs.

Currently, one in four Horizon BCBSNJ members take two or more maintenance medications regularly.

While anyone can choose to fill their medicine at PillPack, Horizon members benefit from this simplified and integrated member experience and receive custom information about their costs upfront based on their pharmacy benefits.
