Hudson County Central Labor Council Endorses Congressman Albio Sires
Hudson County, New Jersey: Hudson County Central Labor Council President Barry Kushnir issued the following statement announcing the endorsement of incumbent Congressman Albio Sires for the 8th Congressional District in the July 7 Democratic Primary.
“The Hudson County Central Labor Council is proud to support Congressman Albio Sires in the July 7 Democratic Primary as he seeks re-election in the 8th Congressional District. Congressman Sires has demonstrated his commitment to the working men and women of Hudson County throughout his long record of public service. The AFL-CIO has given Sires a 98% lifetime score for voting in the House of Representatives with working people. His record in 2019 was a perfect 100% with support for legislation that included protecting workers in healthcare and social services, raising the federal minimum wage, and repealing the 40% “Cadillac Tax” on health care benefits. Sires stands with working families every day.”
“Our country is currently facing the weight of three crises: the coronavirus pandemic, an economic free-fall and long standing racism. Congressman Sires, a member of the House Budget Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and Transportation Committee, has provided courageous leadership during these unprecedented times. He has voted to pass the HEROES Act, legislation that includes an emergency workplace infectious disease standard, gives aid for state and local governments, public schools, and the United States Postal Service, extends health care coverage, provides housing and food benefits, and much more. Sires was also an original co-sponsor of the Justice in Policing Act of 2020, legislation that addresses longstanding structural racism and the need for accountability in American law enforcement.”
“Congressman Sires has demonstrated throughout his career that his main priority is the well being of our community. His record in Congress reflects a commitment to the working families of New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District. We must support Congressman Sires on July 7 in order to continue building upon his record of progress.”
