On Monday, January 16th, 2023, Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker hosted “The 2023 Inaugural Martin Luther King Day Hoops Classic.” This epic event took place at County Prep High School in which there were over 1,000 students in attendance. Scholarships and MVP awards were given out in remembrance of Alice Defazio (Hudson County Hall of Fame), and Elnardo Webster (Saint Peter’s University Basketball.

“I was happy to put together a successful event for our youth. It’s important we create programs that provide safe and constructive alternatives to the negative influences that plague inner city youth. I’m thankful for all of our sponsors and am looking forward to continuing to ensure our youth have safe outlets.”
