Hudson County Democratic Chairman Craig Guy Speaks Out on Jersey City LGBTQ+ Task Force Scandal

Guy Condemns Senior Aide to Mayor Fulop Who Has Financially Supported Sister’s Run for Office Based On Homophobic, Transphobic, and Racist Rhetoric

Hudson County, New Jersey – “I am profoundly troubled that the Jersey City leadership did not demand for Jonathan Gomez Noriega’s resignation from the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee until now. While it is a step forward that his departure now appears imminent, this action alone does not suffice. High-level government positions should never be safe havens for bigotry and hatred. Jersey City must take immediate action to remove Gomez Noriega from his post entirely.

I stand unequivocally with Hudson County Pride, the LGBTQ+ community of Hudson County, and Councilman Frank Gilmore, who has also been subjected to vile and racist attacks by Mr. Gomez Noriega’s sister. It is shameful that the toxic rhetoric of the Trump era would infiltrate our community. True democratic leadership demands a resolute stand against hatred and unwavering support for those who are targeted. It is time for our communities to demonstrate their commitment to justice and inclusivity by expelling those who perpetuate division and discrimination.”
