HUDSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE GUY STATEMENT ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY
JERSEY CITY, NJ — On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy issued the following statement:
“As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day across the nation, we recognize his legacy and recommit ourselves to continue building inclusive and united communities. For those in our county, state and nation facing dark and troubled times, I turn to Dr. Luther King Jr.’s enduring words during his 1963 Strength to Love speech, ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.’ I have dedicated my life to protecting the residents of Hudson County throughout my career as a police officer and as a public servant, standing firm against all forms of hate. May we, as community leaders and drivers of action, continue pursuing a world devoid of hate and powered by the love of service and dedicated kindness that has the power to positively transform the lives of others.”
