Jersey City-Responding to an account by author John VanVliet on InsiderNJ of Republican turned Democrat Senator Sam Thompson saying there would be “Hudson County Republican leaders switching to Democrat”, Hudson County Republican Chair Jose Arango said what he has seen on the ground is just the opposite.

“Every day, our younger and diverse population is increasingly frustrated with the Democrats. In the last 2 years, many former Democrats in Hoboken and Kearny switched to Republican and have reinvigorated the local Republican Party. Since the 2012 Presidential Election, our County GOP registration has grown 64%, over 17,000 new voters. That is more than twice as fast as Democrats have grown in Hudson County by percentage, and significantly faster than either Party has grown statewide. In fact, we would have 250,000 more Republicans statewide if the party had grown as fast as the Hudson GOP. We are going in the right direction, and the only people the Democrats seem to be gaining are out-of-step voters like Senator Thompson,” Arango stated.

“When you see our 2023 ticket, you will realize once again how wrong Senator Thompson is. Then again, when you have to defend failed Biden-Harris policies in a district that rejected both by double-digits, you might start to have make up stories about people 40 miles away,” Arango concluded
