New Jersey Democrats, You Have a Choice

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — While Democratic officials and voters across the state are denouncing corrupt Senator Bob Menendez, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC) and their seemingly oblivious group of congressional candidates are planning to embrace “Bad Bob Menendez” as a special guest at their 2018 Annual Conference in Atlantic City on Friday, September 21st.

Despite Menendez’s track record of shameful, unethical behavior, the NJDSC will be honoring him as the keynote speaker at their annual event. That leaves Democrat officials and candidates who have been invited to attend with an important decision to make: Join with the NJDSC and glorify a disgraced, corrupt politician or do the honorable thing and stay home.

The Bob Hugin for Senate campaign released the following statement:

“It’s time for the New Jersey Democratic establishment to do the right thing ─ do what’s best for the people of New Jersey ─ and disown corrupt, career politician Bob Menendez by boycotting the NJDSC event in Atlantic City and Menendez’s speech. After Menendez was indicted by President Obama’s Justice Department for bribery and corruption, Democrats and Republicans on the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee concluded that he violated federal law, took $1 million in campaign contributions and illegal gifts, and abused the power of his office to help his biggest campaign donor ─ a convicted felon who stole $73 million in a Medicare fraud scheme,” said Hugin Press Secretary Nick Iacovella.

“Instead of fighting for the people of New Jersey, Bob Menendez was busy helping his convicted felon donor ‘best friend’, who stuck needles in patients eyes, burned their retinas with lasers and scammed seniors out of millions by overcharging them for medicines. If that wasn’t bad enough, Menendez abused his office to get visas for that same donor’s foreign mistresses. It’s a disgrace. This is who Democrats want to celebrate and give a prime time speaking slot to? They should be embarrassed.  It’s time for New Jersey Democrats to put the people of New Jersey over partisan politics.”
