NEWARK,NJ — Residents, community and faith leaders will be joined by Senator Teresa Ruiz and other elected officials to rally for the expansion of driver’s licenses to more New Jersey residents. The Let’s Drive NJ campaign is rallying across the state for the expansion of access to driver’s licenses to more New Jersey residents through the creation of a new state-purpose only driver’s license for qualified drivers. This is will benefit many vulnerable populations including seniors, undocumented, and survivors of domestic violence. Expanded access to driver’s licenses is expected to increase road safety, boost New Jersey’s economy through collection of fees and insurance payments, and support the well-being of communities by decreasing the risk of family separation.
12 states and the District of Columbia currently have expanded drivers license laws.
