Hunterdon Republican Committee Endorses Brown, Lanza and Rich For Re-election To County Offices
County Chairman Cites Team’s Commitment
To Conservative Principles
Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred W. Brown and Commissioner Board Director John E. Lanza and Deputy Director Zachary T. Rich were endorsed for re-election by the Hunterdon County Republican Committee, at its February 10th County Committee convention.
Hunterdon Republican County Chairman Gabe Plumer praised the team’s “experience, proven record, and commitment to conservative principles,” following the convention’s unanimous endorsement.
Plumer said, “This is a team whose leadership has not only led to Hunterdon County being designated the safest, healthiest and best county, but has also established a record of fiscal conservatism that includes no county debt and freezing the tax rate for three consecutive years.”
Sheriff Brown, a 31 year veteran of the Raritan Township Police Department where he rose to the rank of Chief, has served as County Sheriff since 2011. The Sheriff is credited with achieving major cost savings through establishing a shared service for housing county jail inmates, first with Somerset County and now with Warren County.
Commissioner Board Director John Lanza is completing his third term on the County Board, where he has previously served as Director in 2017. Earlier this year he called on the Board’s Budget Committee to work towards freezing the county tax rate for the fourth consecutive year.
Director Lanza earned a political science degree from Boston College in 1998 and graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law. A practicing attorney since 2001, he has worked with his family’s Flemington-based law firm, Lanza & Lanza LLP, since its founding in 2005, where he specializes in estate matters, including planning, administration and litigation.
A lifetime resident of Hunterdon County, Mr. Lanza lives with his wife and children in Raritan Township.
Commissioner Board Deputy Director Zach Rich, who served for nine years as a member of the West Amwell Township Committee, including four terms as Mayor, is completing his third year on the County Board.
Mr. Rich, serving as the Board’s Parks liaison this year, has called for the development of a county parks master plan, that sets in place a future strategy for the continued enhancement of the county’s park assets.
Deputy Director Rich started in public service by volunteering on his hometown Finance Advisory Committee and Planning Board. He is known for his “Can Do” positive attitude that drives results, and ensures tax dollars are managed appropriately.
Mr. Rich and his wife and daughters reside in West Amwell.
Chairman Plumer concluded, “With Sheriff Brown and Director Lanza and Deputy Director Rich, along with our other Board of Commissioners members and Constitutional Officers, Hunterdon County residents can rest assured the County is in the very best of hands.”
