IAMAW endorses Tom Malinowski for Congress

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents over 600,000 active and retired members across North America, endorsed Tom Malinowski for Congress on Tuesday. The union cited Malinowski’s lifelong support for labor rights in making their decision.

“Throughout his service in government and non-profit organizations, Tom has worked as an advocate for worker protections around the world,”  said Ines Garcia Keim, President of the New Jersey State Council of Machinists, AFL-CIO. “When he confronted human rights abuses, he understood that labor rights are human rights, supporting union activists and calling out our own government when we failed to live up to American values of fairness, justice and democracy. We are proud to endorse Tom Malinowski for US Congress.”

”I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Machinist and Aerospace workers union,” Malinowski said. “As Assistant Secretary of State, it was my job to ensure our workers received a fair deal in our trade agreements and that laborers around the world were protected by their governments. The current administration has launched an assault on workers rights in our country. As your Congressman I will fight to ensure our workers receive the protections and benefits they deserve.”

Tom is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. He oversaw the U.S. State Department’s Office of International Labor Affairs during the Obama Administration, serving as the chief advocate for worker protections in our international trade agreements and providing support to trade union activists around the world.
