(CAMDEN, NJ) – Council members Marilyn Tores, Shaneka Boucher, and Felisha Reyes-Morton – known as the #IMWITHHER coalition – today urged Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck to investigate a letter from public officials threatening the very existence of Councilwoman Boucher on council.

“When women speak up, speak out, and speak truth to power, this is the payoff,” said Councilwoman Felisha Reyes-Morton, referring to the threatening letter. “And we’re not having it.”

In addition to their letter to Acting Attorney General Bruck, Tores, Boucher and Reyes-Morton attached the original threatening letter from Mayor Vic Carstarhen, Sheriff Whip Wilson, and former Mayor Dana Redd, and copied the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.

“Their letter is gross, a misfire, and shows just how far the Democratic establishment has fallen in our county, ” said Councilwoman Shankea Boucher. “We need the attorney general to take a stand and make an example of this outrageous conduct.”

“Any time someone challenges power around here it results in threats, both behind closed doors and now in public,” said Councilwoman Marilyn Torres. “It’s time for this to come to an end – we must make an example out of Redd, Carstarphen and Wilson.”
