Insurance Council of NJ announces New Team Members
TRENTON, NJ, September 2019 – The Insurance Council of New Jersey (ICNJ), the state’s leading advocacy organization for property & casualty insurers and their policyholders, announced the hire of its new Vice President, Gary R. La Spisa, II. Gary joins the ICNJ with a decade of experience in campaign management, state legislative affairs, lobbying and trade association representation.
A native of New Jersey and a Seton Hall University graduate, Gary brings a full spectrum of expertise to the ICNJ. “Gary has a unique skill set and political acumen that will assist the ICNJ in pursuing public policy that benefits consumers and maintains the delicate balance of a healthy insurance marketplace,” said Christine O’Brien, President of the ICNJ. “From cutting his teeth running a congressional campaign, to being legislative director for a State assemblyman to lobbying for two prominent state trade associations, Gary brings a fresh dynamic to our organization,” continued O’Brien.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to get started,” said Gary La Spisa. “I look forward to getting to know the industry and working to protect our members and our policy holders. ”
The ICNJ also has added another new team member with the hiring of Julieline Serrano as Assistant for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Julie is a recent Rutgers Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a Minor in Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior. She will be assisting the ICNJ with its government affairs and organizational operations.
The Insurance Council of New Jersey is the non-profit, state trade association representing property & casualty insurers doing business here. This industry includes the insurance lines of homeowners, private passenger and commercial auto, commercial general liability, and workers compensation. Our members include some of the country’s largest insurers, prominent NJ domestic companies and international carriers. The mission of our organization is to create a positive understanding of the property & casualty insurance industry and to promote a pro-business/pro-policyholder environment through advocacy, education and communication with the state’s public officials, consumers and media.
