On International Workers’ Day, Amy Kennedy Calls on President Trump
To Protect the Safety of American Workers

Kennedy: “Our President should be dedicated to protecting working Americans instead of lining the pockets of big corporations.”

Brigantine, NJ — This week, President Trump signed an executive order compelling meatpacking plants to stay open, without protections for plant workers. In response, Amy Kennedy, congressional candidate for New Jersey’s second district, released the following statement:

President Trump’s use of the Defense Production Act to force meat-packing plants to stay open with no regard for the safety of the plants’ employees is outrageous and immoral. The President even admitted in his own Executive Order that one of his main concerns was protecting the meat-packing companies from liability in case their workers get sick or die. On International Workers’ Day, and every day, our President should be dedicated to protecting working Americans instead of lining the pockets of big corporations.
